The AGSMEIS referred to as Agric-business, Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme is a program of the Nigerian Bankers’ Committee lodged with the NIRSAL Microfinance Bank which is a Bank of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The AGSMEIS was created to give interest free loans and technical support to agric businesses as well as small and medium enterprises in Nigeria. Actually money to fund the loan is generated from a pool of 5% profit of all the Nigerian Deposit Money Banks (commercial banks) operating in the Country.
About N25 billion naira has been disbursed so far and much more will continue to be disbursed.
ACCESSING THE COLLATERAL FREE AGSMEIS LOAN:
To access the loan, one must:
1. Attend a compulsory training by a CBN accredited EDI (Entrepreneurship Development Institute)
2. Apply for the loan (the EDI that trained you will guide you to make and meet up with all the application processes)
3. You’ll be invited for an interview about your business after which when approved, your account will be credited (from N1, 000,000 to N10, 000,000) depending on the capital requirement of your business.
4. Then you use your business plan and the loan paid into your account to run your business (you can request the EDI that trained you to assist you run your business successfully).
5. Create your business products and services, then sell them to make money
6. From your sales and profit, start paying back the loan.
NB: The loan is currently 9% per annum and can be paid for a period stretching up to 7 years.
