Awka-Etiti Improvement Union (AIU) Joins Other Town Unions in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone to Attend a Meeting With Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation:

Seeking to enhance governance by getting youths more informed and engaged in governance, the Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation hosted a meeting with all the town unions in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone. The meeting held on Saturday, 1st August, 2020 at the Abagana Town Hall.

Awka-Etiti community ably represented by Hon. Leonard Nwadike the Secretary General of the Awka-Etiti Improvement Union (AIU) who also represented Hon. Joachin Okeke the President General, participated effectively to ensure a productive outcome of the meeting which promises to benefit undergraduate indigenes of the Anambra Central Senatorial communities.

The occasion was also graced by the Igwe of Abagana and members of his cabinet. The Igwe who welcomed all the communities to Abagana said prayers and broke kolanuts according to the customs of Igbo land thus paving way for a successful event.

The President General of Abagana who represented the CEO of Dr. ChineduUmeadi Foundation who was unavailable as a result of flight restrictions from outside the country, informed the gathering about a novel essay competition designed by the foundation tagged “Governance in Nigeria; How the Youths can get Involved.”

The Foundation noted that the essay competition was borne out of Dr. Chinedu Umeadi’s passion and desire to get youths positively involved in politics and governance.

Speaking on the guidelines for the essay competition, the Foundation noted that participants must be undergraduates within the senatorial zone, and that the essay which must be between 2000 to 3000 words must be submitted to the Foundation’s email ([email protected]) on or before the 31st of August, 2020.

Speaking further, the Foundation noted that the participant with overall best essay will receive a cash price of N100,000 accompanied with a scholarship till graduation, while participants with best essays from each participating community will receive a cash price of N30, 000.

Hon. Leonard Nwadike who is also the Executive Director of the Global Organization for Youth Enlightenment and Development (www.goyed.org) and familiar with youth developmental programs, joined other communities to appreciate the essay competition and assure the Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation of concrete support for the success of the project. The event ended with a vote of thanks from the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Central Liaison Officer and a group picture of participating communities with representatives of Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation.
